Morph Man Reviewer's Comments
Morph Man, our #6-ranked program is a solid morphing tool that's fairly easy to use, offers plenty of help support, but fails to deliver the top morphing features.
Morph Man allows you to import frames from MPEG, QuickTime and DV movies and export as MPEG, QuickTime, DV movies and animated GIF. But Morph Man also requires DirectX Media to read and convert to particular movie formats, including MPEG, QuickTime and DV.
Morph Man requires you to download a freeware program from the manufacturer called "Morph Man Helper" to perform cropping, rotating and other common edits. We felt this requirement was inconvenient, as we now had two programs to learn instead of just one.
Ease of Use:
Morph Man is easy to learn. The program comes with two tutorials, one on simple morphing and the other on simple warping. Once you've covered the basics in the tutorials, it only takes a little time experimenting with the program to get the hang of it.
We did not need to download DirectX Media or Morph Man Helper.
Ease of Installation:
We had no problems downloading Morph Man (We did not download DirectX Media or Morph Man Helper).
Help/Documentation:
Morph Man's strong suit is its help features. There are some tutorials that cover morphing basics, a brief, informative help section, a FAQs page on their website, a support email address and telephone number. However, the telephone number isn't toll-free, and the customer service is out of Russia.
Summary:
Morph Man is a fair morphing program, we feel it requires too many downloads to compete with inclusive morph packages. FantaMorph, our top ranked product, comes bundled with these features and sells for the same price.
If you're looking for diversity in your morphing software and you like Morph Man, you may want to try Morph Man 4.0 for $99.00. This latest version introduces layers, which allow creation of sophisticated morph effects and easier integration with video compositing tools.
